Plant a garden with all the colors of the sunset

Robin Weston

I love to plant themed gardens.  Here are my picks for plants the colors of a sunset.  Wouldn't they be gorgeous planted together?  I've included links for the seeds on Amazon, but most of these are available as plants in your local nursery.

The links below are affiliate links.  If you purchase via the link, I'll receive a small commission, but your purchase price will not increase.

Dahlia

Spectacular non stop blooms.  Dahlias come in several colors but try these brilliant orange ones for a sunset garden.

Gazania

Gazanias are low maintenance, drought tolerant and low maintenance.

 Red Sunflower

These unique sunflowers combine beauty and functionality.

California Poppy

These beauties grow wild prolifically in the PNW but I love to plant them in my gardens as well.

Coreopsis

Coreopsis comes in several colors but these summery yellow ones are perfect in a sunset theme garden.

Limanthes

Limanthes is also called the poached egg plant.

Red Morning Glory

These are prolific climbers, but it is best to grow them in pots and keep them in check or they will take over your garden.

Milkweed

Monarch butterflies love these brightly colored flowers.

Pink Coreopsis

Every good sunset has a little pink in it.

Dianthus

These baby pink flowers make the perfect accent for your sunset garden.

Double Hollyhock

These beauties grow tall, making them perfect for the back of the garden.

Marigold

A staple for annual gardens, marigolds are easy to grow from seed.

Baby's Breath

These airy beauties make excellent filler in bouquets and dried flower arrangements.
